Diana Rigg to guest-star on 'Doctor Who'

The legendary Dame Diana Rigg, ex-Bond (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) girl and star of the classic 1960s television series The Avengers, has signed on to guest-star in an episode of Doctor Who for season seven. Also cast in that same episode is Rigg’s own daughter, Rachael Stirling. The pair will be playing mother and daughter with a dark secret in an episode penned by Mark Gatiss. Beyond that, not much is known. Well, by that, I mean this will Gatiss’ second script for the season, and will be the ninth episode (his other one is episode seven, the one with another brilliant actor, David Warner) and has the rumored title of The Crimson Horror. “The first time Rachie and I will be working together is on an episode of Doctor Who specially written for us by Mark Gatiss. How lucky is that?” said Rigg in the official press release. Her daughter said the following: “Mark Gatiss has written a gift of a script and an on-screen relationship between Ma and I that is truly delicious. “We have never before worked together because the offers have not been tempting, but when such a funny and original script comes through you know the time has come.”
