Brandon T. Jackson cast in 'Beverly Hills Cop' TV series, Trailer for 'Die Hard 5'

Brandon T. Jackson, who played Grover in Percy Jackson: The Lightening Thief and will return for next years continuation, Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters, has landed the lead role in CBS TV spin-off of Beverly Hills Cop movie franchise, playing the son of Axel Foley originated by Eddie Murphy. In the Shawn Ryan (The Shield) produced series, Jackson stars as Aaron Foley, a police officer on the rise who fights to escape from under the shadow of his father’s legacy while busting the rich and famous of Beverly Hills.  Murphy, whose character is now the Chief of Police in Detroit, will appear in the pilot and guest star in episodes of the series from time to time.

One of later Star Trek TV series most prolific directors, Winrich Kolbe has died. However, his death, at age 71, happened sometime in September, and the only press release came in memoriam column of the November issue of DGA Monthly. Once this became public, when reached for comment, family members confirmed his passing, though gave no word of actually when or what caused his death. He had retired from directing in 2003 and had left his teaching job in 2007 due to some illness. The Classic TV History Blog has the details of Kolbe's career in Hollywood in the early 80's helming many popular shows of the time before he began his long association with Star Trek franchise, directing episodes of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise.

Here's the first full trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth film in the franchise. As each successive film gets wilder and wilder to up and outdo each other, your suspension of belief that anyone could survive half the stunts that John McClane endures comes into question. It's that nagging internal logic that all films, no matter what genre, need so the some audience members are not taken out of the narrative with words like "Hey, that's just too unbelievable."
